TES Adds CFM56 to Approved Disassembly Capability

TES has celebrated the induction of the first CFM56-3 engine to be disassembled at the Bridgend facility this week. The addition of the CFM56-3 engine complements TES’ existing disassembly capability on the RB211-535E4 engine and has been brought on line in support of its strategic product focus and a growing CFM56-3 client base. As with the RB211-535E4, the CFM56-3 will become approved under its existing EASA 145 approval. TES has recently developed a partnership with a major airline client that will result in a growing throughput of CFM56-3 engine acquisitions. With additional external disassembly capacity provided by its MRO partnership network, TES is well positioned to continue to grow its material inventories as a substantial provider of quality CFM56-3 material to the aftermarket.

Karl Gibson, Operations Director of TES Aviation Group said; “We are delighted to have now added the CFM56-3 engine to our disassembly capability and this compliments over 15 years of TES technical management experience on this product and our growing EASA 145 services. Following on from this success, we remain committed to continuing investment that allows us to adapt to the changing needs of the industry, whilst continuing to work towards our shared objective of reducing operating costs for our client base and the industry as a whole.”

Following the recent global expansion of the company, TES has been able to reach a number of very different but worthy causes.
Following the recent opening of the TES Asia Pacific office in Singapore, a number of TES staff and their families were seconded to the region of Changi. Here TES was introduced to the charity Sanctuary House, a volunteer welfare organisation charity and institute of public character dedicated to preventing abandonment of babies and children. The work carried out at the centre is incredibly important in supporting under privileged children and families in the local area. TES recently made a considerable donation and continues to support this very worthy cause.
TES’ 130,000 sq ft headquarters is based in Bridgend, Wales and supporting local charities is of upmost importance to the 106 TES staff that live in the surrounding areas. TES recently made a donation to a local golf charity event organised by Sony to raise money for local charities such as The Joshua Foundation, a charity providing holidays and experiences to children and their families, where the child is diagnosed with terminal cancer.
In addition, TES is set to support The Engineering Education Scheme Wales in 2011, which operates in partnership with the Royal Academy of Engineering and encourages the best talent in schools in the local areas to take up engineering as a career.
TES Opens New Facility in Singapore

TES Aviation Group, the leading aircraft engine asset management service provider, is expanding globally with the opening of a new facility in Singapore, its first outside the UK.

The state of the art facility offers TES the ability to provide a range of platform solutions to its Asia Pacific partners underpinned by the organisational excellence that is the corner stone of the TES business. Based close to Changi Airport the 9,000sqft facility provides warehousing, logistics, parts and engine storage as well as engineering fleet management services to the growing TES customer base in the region. Additional services will be added over time to supplement the Asia Pacific offering.

Ashley Cooper, CEO of TES said;
“TES is delighted to be adding Singapore to its global franchise. This new facility will allow us to more efficiently support our expanding Asia Pacific client base across the complete platform of TES services.”

TES has been successfully supporting its Asia Pacific client base for over ten years utilising resources from its UK HQ and by deploying seconded personnel into selected client locations in the region. With a total of twelve employees, including experienced Engineers, Warehousing/Logistics Personnel and a Materials Sales team, the new Singapore facility is an important milestone in the company’s ongoing growth plans.

In line with the expansion of the franchise, TES is now able to offer a wider, more integrated platform solution to its client base, bringing together engineering expertise, with long term client program management, maintenance, repair and overhaul management, overhauled condition piece parts supply and short term lease engine provision. In addition TES has widened its product reach, expanding significantly in CF6-80C2, PW4000, CFM56 Series, V2500 Series and RB211-535E4 engine types.

In establishing its new facility, TES is making a multi-million dollar investment in Singapore. This investment is not only creating employment for Singaporeans but brings to Singapore unique skills that, until now, have not been available to the many start-ups, operators, leasing companies and investors in the region who form the TES customer base. These skills include engine technical inspection and commercial management, engine fleet management, engine disassembly and piece part repair management and materials sales and distribution.

Sia Kheng Yok, Director of Transport Engineering, Singapore Economic Development Board, said;
“We warmly congratulate TES Aviation Group on the opening of its first facility outside of the UK, here in Singapore. This decision affirms the important role Singapore plays for companies looking to tap into the growing Asian markets. The company’s total engine support services address an emerging trend in the aerospace sector and will be an excellent complement to our MRO cluster. This development will further reinforce Singapore’s position as a global aerospace hub.”

Customers, suppliers and dignitaries assembled to celebrate the official opening of the new TES Asia Pacific facility on Thursday May 13th 2010.
TES Opens New Corporate HQ in Bridgend

TES Aviation Group’s new corporate headquarters was officially opened on 5th June, by The Right Honourable Rhodri Morgan AM, First Minister for Wales. The company moved their existing offices in Rhondda Cynon Taff and St. Athan to one larger facility in Bridgend, in order to provide a foundation for their significant growth plans over the coming four years.

Ashley Cooper, the CEO of TES, said

"We have been searching for a suitable site to combine our requirement of 30,000 square foot of corporate offices and 60,000+ square foot of warehouse and operations space. This facility provides our ideal accommodation mix to co-locate our two existing sites. We are extremely excited about our move to Bridgend and the benefits the new facility will bring."

Speaking before an assembled group of customers, suppliers and other dignitaries which included Cllr Mel Nott Leader of Bridgend County Borough Council, The Rt. Hon Rhodri Morgan talked about the opening of TES' original offices in the Valley’s Innovation Centre in Abercynon in 2001.

"It has been eight years since I opened the original TES office at the Valleys Innovation Centre in Abercynon. Since then the premises have grown by some 3000% to the current 130,000 sq ft and incorporates aircraft engine dismantling, logistics and parts storage activities."

TES has grown to a staff of 100 and is now one of the world’s foremost providers of aircraft engine asset management services. As well as managing a client portfolio of aircraft engines valued in excess of $1.5Billion, TES offers an integrated management solution providing engineering services, aircraft engines for lease, as well as a broad range of aircraft engine parts .

The First Minister stated that

"It is very impressive to see a home-grown success story like TES succeeding so well in a global industry dominated by the big multi-nationals. We look forward to seeing them go forward and provide even more exciting job prospects over the next 5 years."

Mr Grabowski, Mr Skirrow and Mr Pirbhai from DVB all attended the event. Speaking at the opening Mr Grabowski, stated

"The value of an aircraft at the end of its’ economic life resides in the engines. Whoever controls and understands that value and controls the spare parts process, is effectively able to create value for their clients, and also for their shareholders in an area that is often overlooked by other aviation banks. This is the key reason that DVB invested in TES."

Mr Grabowski went on further to thank the First Minister, the Welsh Assembly Government and in particular the Knowledge Bank for Business (KB4B) for the support given to TES since its inception.

The event concluded with guided tours of the facility and a buffet served in a marquee located in the 60,000 sq ft warehouse and operations space.

TES Aviation Group announces an increase in the Company's share capital by DVB Bank SE as part of an ongoing programme to increase funding facilities of the business for the acquisition of aircraft and engines.

Bob James, Managing Director and CEO (Joint) said

"We are delighted to see the continued DVB financial commitment to the TES business model, which comes at a time in the cycle where liquidity is clearly a major factor, lenders are retreating from the market, and many of our competitors simply struggle to raise funding to close transactions. With DVB's support, TES will continue to pursue its focused investment activities to promote its short-tem engine leasing and materials supply business".

DVB aquires majority shareholdings in TES aviation

DVB Bank AG, which specialises in transport finance, announces that, effective 16 July 2007, in line with its aspiration to grow its aviation investment franchise, it has purchased a majority shareholding in TES Aviation Services Limited, a leading aircraft engine asset management service provider headquartered in Cardiff, South Wales, UK. TES, which was established in 1995, has developed under the private ownership of founders Bob James and Ashley Cooper to a highly respected, global business employing 51 people. The TES Aviation Group offers innovative commercial and technical solutions to owners and operators of commercial aircraft engines, and advice in general to the aviation financial community

Bertrand Grabowski, Member of the Board of Managing Directors of DVB Bank AG, said:

"TES offers DVB the opportunity to invest in an established, profitable business, offering a unique range of services. In turn, DVB offers TES the investment support of a financial institution with a dedicated focus on the aviation sector. Based on its brand and reputation which is well recognised in the international market, TES will develop as an independent operating business within the DVB Group. Under the continued management of Bob (James) and Ashley (Cooper), who remain committed shareholders, we expect the company to achieve its growth potential in its parts trading and leasing operations."

Ashley Cooper, co-founder and Joint Managing Director of TES, said:

"In DVB we have a new committed, long-term partner, which in addition to bringing required new capital for growth, has the industry expertise to understand TES' business and therefore enable the company to accelerate its planned development"

TES has grown significantly since its formation in 1995 with currently two premises at the Engineering / HQ at the Innovation Centre, Abercynon and at its 50,000 sq ft engine dis-assembly facility at RAF St Athan. Ashley Cooper said:

"We are delighted with the support we have received to date during the growth of the business from the Welsh Assembly Government (WAG) and its associated entities, specifically in financial support from Finance Wales and latterly from KB4B in strategic development. Our bankers, Barclays have also contributed to the growth of the business through their range of financial solutions and TES will seek to continue and develop the excellent relationships with our partners through the next phase of the business's growth. The engine dis-assembly facility is located at the WAG owned St Athan site"

"Through WAG we are actively exploring bringing our two operational sites together under one roof as part of the WAG development of the St Athan Aerospace Park and are very optimistic about the synergies and growth opportunities this will bring to the TES business and to the South Wales area."

Grant Thornton Corporate Finance in Cardiff were retained by the TES shareholders to lead the international process of finding a suitable equity partner to facilitate the business growth. The Grant Thornton team led by Paul Oldham and Trefor Griffith said:

"It was evident from early in the process that DVB would be an excellent investor and long-term partner for TES. TES is an excellent business and we look forward to watching their significant growth with the support of DVB"
